★★★★3.9 · 578 ratings
10 inInductionOven to 600°FDishwasher-safe$$

America’s Test Kitchen’s top ceramic skillet in its August 2026 test: the 12-inch Valencia Pro won, and ATK highly recommends this 10-inch too. It was one of only three pans to pass ATK’s coating-durability test.

The diamond-infused coating is made without PFAS, PFOA, lead or cadmium, and GreenPan says it’s metal-utensil safe. A hard-anodized body sits on a magnetized base for induction, the stainless handle stays cool, and it’s dishwasher-safe and oven- and broiler-safe to 600°F (lids to 425°F). ATK notes it runs hotter than traditional nonstick, so turn the heat down a notch.

  • Oven-safe to 600°F
  • Dishwasher-safe
Keep in mind

Ceramic vs Traditional Nonstick: What “PFAS-Free” Means

Traditional nonstick
  • Uses a PTFE coating, the compound better known as Teflon, according to ATK.
  • Very slick and long-lasting, but not the pick if you’d rather avoid PTFE. See our best nonstick frying pans.
Ceramic nonstick
  • A glass-like coating made from a sand-derived ceramic material, with no PTFE. ATK says this avoids the risk of toxic fumes at high temperatures.
  • The catch: ATK found that “even the best ceramic nonstick surfaces quickly deteriorated with use,” because ceramic is brittle by nature.
Hybrid and pure ceramic
  • HexClad combines a stainless steel pattern with a ceramic coating for better searing.
  • “Pure ceramic” pans are solid ceramic with no metal body. They aren’t magnetic, so they won’t work on induction.

Which Ceramic Pans Work on Induction?

Induction needs a magnetic base. Here’s how the ten line up, according to their listings and ATK.

Need a whole set? See our induction-safe cookware sets.

How to Make a Ceramic Pan Last Longer

Ceramic coatings wear faster than PTFE, so care makes a big difference.

  1. Cook on low to medium heat. GreenPan and Caraway both recommend it, and ATK notes ceramic runs hotter than traditional nonstick.
  2. Don’t preheat an empty pan on high. GreenPan advises against it.
  3. Use oil or butter, not aerosol sprays. GreenPan says sprays can leave residue that builds up over time.
  4. Clean gently. ATK says scrubbing stuck-on food can widen the tiny cracks in a ceramic surface. Soak, then wipe.
  5. Hand wash when you can. SENSARTE recommends it, even though many pans here are dishwasher-safe.
  6. Check before using metal utensils. GreenPan, HexClad and Blue Diamond say theirs are metal-safe; for the rest, use wood or silicone.

How to Choose a Ceramic Frying Pan

Six checks before you buy.

Coating

Ceramic or hybrid

Plain ceramic releases eggs best. A hybrid like HexClad sears more like stainless.

Cooktop

Induction or not

Seven of the ten work on induction. OXO Enhanced and Blue Diamond don’t.

Oven

Check the limit

From 430°F (OXO) to 900°F (HexClad). SENSARTE’s handle must come off first.

Size

Look at the cooking surface

A pan’s rim is wider than its flat base: Made In’s 10.5-inch pan cooks on 7.5 inches.

Weight

Light or sturdy

ATK found clad pans like Made In heavier. OXO Enhanced is the light pick.

Care

Dishwasher or hand wash

Several are dishwasher-safe, but gentle hand washing helps any ceramic coating last.

Ceramic Nonstick Fry Pan FAQs

Are ceramic nonstick pans safe?▼

They’re made without PTFE, the coating in traditional nonstick. ATK says that avoids the risk of toxic fumes at high temperatures. Every pan here is listed as made without PFAS.

What is the best ceramic frying pan?▼

The GreenPan Valencia Pro. It won America’s Test Kitchen’s August 2026 ceramic skillet test and was one of only three pans to pass its durability test.

How long do ceramic pans last?▼

Not as long as traditional nonstick. ATK found even the best ceramic surfaces deteriorated with use. Low to medium heat, no aerosol sprays and gentle cleaning help.

Do ceramic pans work on induction?▼

Many do. Here, GreenPan, Caraway, Made In, Le Creuset, HexClad, Our Place and SENSARTE work on induction. OXO Enhanced and Blue Diamond don’t, and pure ceramic pans never do.

Can ceramic pans go in the oven?▼

Most can, at different limits: OXO 430°F, Our Place 450°F, Caraway, Made In and SENSARTE (handle removed) 550°F, GreenPan and Blue Diamond 600°F, HexClad 900°F.

Can you use metal utensils on ceramic pans?▼

Only if the maker says so. GreenPan, HexClad and Blue Diamond say theirs are metal-utensil safe. Otherwise use wood or silicone.

Are ceramic pans dishwasher safe?▼

Several are: GreenPan, OXO, HexClad, ZWILLING and Blue Diamond. SENSARTE recommends hand washing, and hand washing helps any coating last.

Why is food sticking to my ceramic pan?▼

Usually too much heat, spray residue or a worn coating. Cook on low to medium heat, use oil or butter instead of aerosol spray, and clean off any buildup gently.

Is HexClad ceramic?▼

Partly. It’s a hybrid: a stainless steel hexagon pattern over HexClad’s TerraBond ceramic coating.

What is the difference between pure ceramic and ceramic-coated pans?▼

Ceramic-coated pans have a metal body with a thin ceramic coating; pure ceramic pans are solid ceramic. Pure ceramic isn’t magnetic, so it doesn’t work on induction.

Is ceramic or carbon steel better?▼

Ceramic for easy eggs and low upkeep; carbon steel for high-heat searing and decades of use. See our ceramic vs carbon steel guide.

The Bottom Line

Keep the heat at low to medium and skip aerosol sprays, and any of these will last longer.
