- $$
The most popular value rolls: two 50-foot rolls, or 100 feet of bag, for about the price of a single FoodSaver multipack. Embossed channels pull the air out cleanly to prevent freezer burn.
Wevac lists them for FoodSaver, Seal-a-Meal, Nesco, Weston, Cabela’s and Ziploc sealers, and for sous vide and freeze-dried meals. They also come in 6-inch and 8-inch widths and shorter 16-foot packs.

They are 4 mil thick with a textured dot pattern on one side to grip the vacuum and resist bone punctures. Syntus says they are safe for the microwave, freezer, boiling and sous vide.

Bonsenkitchen Vacuum Sealer Rolls (3 x 8 in + 3 x 11 in)
- Sous vide up to 230°F
- 4 mil, PA + PE
- Reusable & dishwasher safe
- Six 20 ft rolls

The best vacuum seal bags for sous vide on this list. Bonsenkitchen rates these rolls for water baths up to 230°F (110°C), and says they can be microwaved, frozen, boiled, washed and reused.
They are 4 mil thick, made of food-grade PA and PE (nylon and polyethylene), with an embossed side and a glossy clear side, and Bonsenkitchen says its air channels run deeper than other brands’ for a firmer seal. Six rolls in two widths cover almost any job.

OutOfAir 11 in x 100 ft Vacuum Sealer Roll with Cutter Box
- 100 ft in one roll
- Built-in cutter box
- 4 mil thick
- 60-day guarantee
- $$$
Out of Air vacuum sealer bags, sold under the OutOfAir name, come as one 100-foot roll in a dispenser box with a built-in cutter, so you pull, cut a straight edge and seal without hunting for scissors. OutOfAir says one roll makes about 75 gallon-size bags.
The plastic is 4 mil thick, which OutOfAir says is 33% thicker than most bags, so sharp bones are less likely to poke through. It works with FoodSaver, VacMaster, Weston, Cabela’s, Rival, Seal-a-Meal and Ziploc sealers, and comes in 6-inch and 8-inch widths too.

AENTGIU 200 Pre-Cut Vacuum Sealer Bags, 8 x 12 in

- Six 20 ft rolls
- Two widths
- BPA-free

GERYON Vacuum Sealer Rolls, 8 in x 16 ft (2 Pack)
- 8-inch width
- Textured on both sides
- Boil, freezer & microwave safe
- Reusable
- $
Narrow 8-inch rolls for snacks, cheese and single portions, where an 11-inch roll just wastes plastic. Unusually, they are textured on both sides to draw the air out.
GERYON says they are BPA-free, boil-safe, freezer-safe and microwave-safe, and that the multi-layer film helps bags stay submerged in a sous vide bath.

FoodVacBags Pint Zipper Vacuum Seal Bags, 6 x 10 in (50 Count)
- Zipper reseal
- Black back, clear front
- 6 x 10 in pint
- Fits clamp-style sealers
- $$
Pint pouches with a zipper top, so you can open them, take what you need and zip them shut. They suit coffee beans, nuts, jerky and anything you dip into often.
The black back shields the contents from light while the clear front lets you see what is inside, and you can write on them with a permanent marker. FoodVacBags says they are BPA-free and fit clamp-style sealers like FoodSaver, Seal-a-Meal and Ziploc.

FoodSaver Reusable Quart Vacuum Zipper Bags (10 Count)
- Reusable, hand-wash
- Built-in valve
- Sous vide & microwave safe
- Zipper clip included
- $
The closest thing to a reusable vacuum seal bag. A built-in valve lets a FoodSaver handheld sealer pull the air out, the zipper closes it, and you wash and reuse the bag.
FoodSaver says they are leakproof and go straight from the freezer into a sous vide bath, and they are microwave safe too. A gallon size is available.
Can You Use Regular Freezer Bags in a Vacuum Sealer?
Not in a normal countertop sealer. Ordinary zip-top freezer bags are smooth on both sides, so when the sealer starts pulling, the plastic presses flat and traps the air inside. They are also thinner, and the heat bar can melt straight through them.
Are Vacuum Sealer Bags Safe? BPA-Free Bags and Non-Plastic Options
What the bags are made of
Most are layers of nylon (PA) and polyethylene (PE), food-grade plastics that are BPA-free. BPA is mostly linked to hard polycarbonate plastic, not these soft films.
Stay within the temperature rating
Bags rated to 230°F, like AENTGIU and Bonsenkitchen, are made for sous vide and simmering. Use them within the range the maker lists.
Food-safe and odor-free
Want bags with no chemicals of concern? Every pick here is sold as BPA-free and food-safe. Buy vacuum seal bags sold for food, not storage bags meant for clothes or documents.
Are there non-plastic vacuum bags?
Not ones you can heat-seal. For less plastic, reuse rolls where you can, or switch to reusable zipper bags or glass vacuum containers.
Vacuum Bags for Freezing Food, Sous Vide and Reuse
Freezer storage
Freeze vacuum seal freezer bags flat, then stand them up like files once solid. Label and date every bag before it goes in.
Sous vide
Seal twice for a stronger seam on long cooks. If a bag floats, clip a spoon or weight to it so it stays under water.
Soups and liquids
Freeze soups, stews and marinades flat in the bag first, then vacuum seal once solid, so liquid is not pulled into the sealer.
Sharp bones
Wrap bone ends in a folded paper towel, or use a 4 mil bag, so nothing pokes through in the freezer.
Reusing bags
Wash and reuse bags that held dry goods, bread or vegetables. Throw away bags that held raw meat, fish, eggs or greasy food.
Beyond the kitchen
Vacuum seal bags also protect documents, spare parts and emergency supplies from moisture.
Vacuum sealer bags for preppers
Great for months of dry goods in the pantry or freezer. For multi-year storage, many preppers use mylar bags with oxygen absorbers instead, since plastic vacuum bags slowly let air back in over time.
Planning a freezer stock-up? Our individual freezer meals for one and freezer breakfast burritos are made for vacuum sealing in portions.
Vacuum Sealer Bags Buying Guide: How to Choose
Match your sealer
Countertop suction sealers take embossed bags and rolls; handheld sealers need valve bags; chamber sealers use smooth pouches.
Check the width
Most countertop sealers take 11-inch rolls, but some compact models only seal 8 inches. Check before you buy.
Thickness
A 3 to 4 mil bag handles everyday food. Thicker is more durable: 4 mil, like OutOfAir, AENTGIU and Bonsenkitchen, is better for meat with bones.
Pre-cut or rolls
Pre-cut bags are faster; rolls fit odd shapes and waste less on small portions. Many kitchens keep both.
Sous vide rating
For sous vide, choose bags that list a temperature rating, ideally up to about 230°F.
Value
Compare the cost per foot or per bag on the day, not the pack price. Bigger rolls usually work out cheaper.
