Cut on the diagonal: seasoned beef, melted cheddar, crisp lettuce and the burger sauce inside a golden, char-marked tortilla.
A cheeseburger burrito recipe works when the filling tastes like a burger and the outside crunches like a quesadilla. This one seasons the beef with mustard and Worcestershire instead of taco spices, melts the cheddar straight onto the hot meat so it seals the roll, and toasts the burrito seam-side down in butter. Six ounces of lean beef and a Greek yogurt sauce put each one at about 47 grams of protein, and a double batch freezes for the week.

Why This Cheeseburger Burrito Works
Tastes like a cheeseburger, not taco meat
The beef is seasoned with mustard, Worcestershire and smoked paprika instead of cumin and chili, so it tastes like a flat-top burger, and the sauce is the pickle-ketchup-mustard sauce from a burger joint.
Crispy outside, melty inside
Cheddar goes straight onto the hot beef so it melts and glues the roll shut, then the whole thing is toasted seam-side down in a buttered pan until the tortilla blisters.
47 grams of protein
Six ounces of lean beef per burrito, plus the cheese, the tortilla and a Greek yogurt sauce. The protein table below shows the math and how to push it higher or lighter.
Thirty minutes, and it travels
Fifteen minutes of cooking, fifteen of rolling. Wrapped in foil it stays crisp for an hour; the meal-prep tab turns a double batch into a week of lunches.
Ingredients for a Cheeseburger Burrito
90/10 ground beef
Lean enough that the burrito is not greasy, fatty enough to brown and taste like a burger. 93/7 works and is leaner; 80/20 needs draining well.
Mustard and Worcestershire in the beef
The two things that make ground beef taste like a burger patty instead of taco filling. Soy sauce stands in for Worcestershire.
Smoked paprika, garlic and onion powder
The flat-top flavor without a grill. A pinch of sugar is optional if you like a diner burger.
Burrito-size flour tortillas
Ten inches, no smaller, or the filling will not roll. Warm them or they crack.
Sharp cheddar
Shredded from a block so it melts fast on the hot beef. Half cheddar, half pepper jack is the spicy version; American cheese slices are the nostalgic one.
Iceberg, tomato, pickles, onion
The cold crunch. Shred the lettuce fine, drain the tomato and blot the pickles so nothing goes soggy.
Greek yogurt burger sauce
Yogurt gives the body and tang of a burger sauce with a fraction of the fat, and adds protein. All-mayo is the classic; the ratio is yours.
Butter or oil for toasting
Butter browns the tortilla faster and tastes better; oil is more forgiving. A thin brush, not a pour.

The 47 grams: 6 ounces of lean beef, 1½ ounces of cheddar, a burrito-size tortilla and a Greek yogurt sauce in each one. Use a pound of beef for four and it drops to about 38 grams. Pickles: blot them dry or they steam the tortilla soft from inside.
Instructions
Make the burger sauce
Stir the yogurt, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, paprika, garlic powder and pickle brine together with a pinch of salt. Refrigerate while you cook; it thickens and the flavors meld. It keeps a week.
Brown the beef hard
Heat a large skillet over medium-high until very hot. Add the beef in an even layer and leave it alone for 3 minutes to brown, then break it up and add the onion. Cook 5 to 6 minutes more until the beef is crumbled, browned at the edges and no pink remains. Pour off excess fat.
Season like a burger
Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, Worcestershire and the tablespoon of mustard. Cook 1 minute. Take it off the heat and let it cool 3 or 4 minutes so it does not melt through the tortilla.
Warm the tortillas
Wrap the stack in a damp paper towel and microwave 30 seconds, or warm each one 15 seconds a side in a dry pan. A cold tortilla cracks when you roll it.
Fill, in the right order
Lay a tortilla flat. Spread 2 tablespoons of sauce down the center, leaving a 2-inch border at each end. Pile on a quarter of the beef, then the cheddar directly on the warm beef so it melts, then pickles, tomato, onion and lettuce. Finish with another spoon of sauce.
Roll it tight
Fold the two short sides in over the filling, then fold the bottom edge up and over, pull back toward you to tighten, and roll forward to close. Set it seam-side down for a minute; the warm cheese seals it.
Toast until crisp
Brush the pan with oil or butter over medium heat. Set the burrito seam-side down and cook 2 to 3 minutes, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden and crisp with char marks; flip and toast the other side. Rest 1 minute, cut diagonally, and serve with extra sauce.
How It Gets to 47 Grams of Protein

Filling in order: sauce, hot seasoned beef, cheddar on the beef, then pickles, tomato, onion and lettuce.

Higher: a high-protein tortilla, 2 ounces of cheese or the bacon tab. Lighter: the turkey tab, an all-yogurt sauce and 1 ounce of cheese lands around 45 grams and 600 calories.
The Four Rules for a Crispy Burrito
Cool the beef for three minutes
Steaming-hot filling softens the tortilla from inside and the sauce splits. Warm, not scalding, is right.
Cheese on the beef, cold stuff on top
Cheddar melts into the meat and seals the roll; lettuce and tomato stay crisp because they never touch the hot pan side.
Fold the ends in first, then roll tight
Sides in, bottom up and over, pull back, roll forward. A loose burrito leaks sauce in the pan and falls apart when cut.
Toast seam-side down, press gently
The seam sets in the first minute. Medium heat, a thin film of butter, light pressure with a spatula for full contact and even char.
Six Ways to Make It

The cross-section: beef, melted cheddar, pickles, tomato and lettuce with sauce running through.
Same roll, different filling. Tap a version:
Smash Burger Burrito
Instead of crumbling the beef, press 3 ounce balls flat on the hot pan for 90 seconds a side with the seasoning on top, lay a slice of American cheese on each to melt, then put two patties inside each burrito. Crustier and more burger-like; it takes 5 minutes longer.
Chicken Cheeseburger Burrito
Swap the beef for 1½ pounds of ground chicken cooked with 1 tablespoon of oil, the same seasonings plus ½ teaspoon more salt. About 44 grams of protein and 150 fewer calories per burrito. Add a spoon of extra sauce; chicken is leaner.
Lighter Turkey Burger Burrito
Use 93/7 ground turkey, an all-yogurt sauce, 1 ounce of cheese per burrito and a high-protein tortilla. About 45 grams of protein and roughly 600 calories. Double the lettuce and tomato for bulk.
Bacon Cheeseburger Burrito
Crisp 8 slices of beef bacon or turkey bacon, chop them and add two slices’ worth to each burrito on top of the cheese. Cook the beef in a teaspoon of the bacon fat. Smoky and over 50 grams of protein.
Spicy Jalapeño Cheeseburger Burrito
Use pepper jack for half the cheddar, add pickled jalapeño slices with the pickles and stir 1 teaspoon of hot sauce and ¼ teaspoon of cayenne into the sauce. Everything else stays the same.
Freezer Cheeseburger Burritos
Make a double batch and leave out the lettuce and tomato; roll the beef, cheese, pickles and sauce only. Toast, cool completely, wrap each in foil and freeze up to 3 months. Reheat unwrapped in an air fryer at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes or a 375°F oven for 20, then tuck in fresh lettuce and tomato through the cut end.

Cheeseburger Burrito: FAQs
How does this cheeseburger burrito have 47g of protein?
Each burrito holds 6 ounces of 90/10 ground beef (about 31 grams cooked), 1½ ounces of cheddar (10 grams), a 10-inch flour tortilla (7 grams) and a Greek yogurt sauce (2 grams), which adds up to about 47 grams. Use a pound of beef for four burritos and it is closer to 38 grams; a high-protein tortilla pushes it past 50.
What is in cheeseburger burrito sauce?
A burger-joint sauce: Greek yogurt and a little mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, dill pickle relish, smoked paprika, garlic powder and a splash of pickle brine. All-mayo is the classic version; the yogurt keeps it lighter and adds protein. It keeps a week in the fridge.
How do you keep a cheeseburger burrito crispy?
Let the beef cool a few minutes, blot the pickles and drain the tomato so nothing steams the tortilla from inside, roll it tight, and toast it seam-side down in a buttered pan over medium heat, pressing lightly. Wrapped in foil it stays crisp for about an hour.
How do you fold a burrito so it does not fall apart?
Fill only the center, leaving a 2-inch border at each end. Fold the two short sides in over the filling, fold the bottom edge up and over, pull it back toward you to tighten, then roll forward. Set it seam-side down for a minute so the melted cheese seals it before toasting.
Can I make cheeseburger burritos ahead of time?
Make the beef and the sauce up to 4 days ahead and assemble in 5 minutes. Do not roll them ahead with lettuce and tomato; the tortilla goes soggy. For true make-ahead, use the freezer tab: roll without the fresh vegetables, toast, freeze, and reheat in the air fryer.
Can I freeze cheeseburger burritos?
Yes, without the lettuce and tomato. Roll the beef, cheese, pickles and sauce, toast, cool completely, wrap in foil and freeze up to 3 months. Reheat unwrapped at 350°F in an air fryer for 10 to 12 minutes, then add fresh lettuce and tomato through the cut end.
What ground beef is best for cheeseburger burritos?
90/10 lean ground beef: it browns and tastes like a burger without leaving the burrito greasy. 93/7 is leaner and slightly drier; 80/20 works if you drain it well. Ground chicken and turkey both work with the swaps in the tabs above.
Can I use ground turkey or chicken instead?
Yes. Use 1½ pounds of ground turkey or chicken for four, cook it in a tablespoon of oil, add ½ teaspoon more salt and an extra spoon of sauce since the meat is leaner. Protein stays in the mid-40s per burrito and calories drop by 100 to 150.
What cheese melts best in a burrito?
Sharp cheddar shredded from a block, placed directly on the hot beef so it melts before rolling. American cheese slices give the most nostalgic cheeseburger melt; pepper jack makes it spicy. Pre-shredded cheese melts slower and duller.
Is a cheeseburger burrito healthy?
It is a balanced, high-protein meal at about 775 calories with 47 grams of protein, lettuce and tomato included. The turkey tab brings it to roughly 600 calories with 45 grams of protein, and a high-protein tortilla and all-yogurt sauce trim it further.
Can I make it in the air fryer?
Yes. Brush the rolled burrito with oil and air fry seam-side down at 375°F for 6 to 8 minutes, turning once, until golden and crisp. It is the best way to reheat one too.
How do I make cheeseburger burritos for a crowd?
Tap the 8 or 12 burrito size on the card. Cook the beef in two batches so it browns, set up an assembly line, and toast the burritos in a griddle or two pans, holding finished ones on a sheet pan in a 200°F oven for up to 30 minutes. Cut each in half and serve with a bowl of sauce.
Is this recipe halal?
Yes, as written: beef, cheese, vegetables and a tortilla, no pork and no alcohol. Check the Worcestershire label or use soy sauce, and use beef or turkey bacon in the bacon version.
What goes with cheeseburger burritos?
Fries or air fryer tortilla chips, a pickle spear and extra sauce for dipping. It is a complete meal, so a crisp side is plenty; the serving section above has the links, including the smash burger on a tortilla and the burger bowls for a meal-prep week.
