How Many CFM Does Your Range Hood Need?
CFM (cubic feet per minute) is how much air the hood moves. More isn’t always better: it costs more, it’s louder, and above 400 CFM it can trigger makeup-air rules.
HVI’s guideline. A 30-inch range needs about 250 CFM, a 36-inch about 300. Islands need 150 CFM per foot.
